Food Safety Culture

Food safety culture is the beliefs, behaviours and practices in a food business to deliver safe food.

A strong food safety culture means that:

• Everyone understands their role in keeping food safe.

• Staff consistently follow safe practices, even when under pressure.

• Leaders actively promote good food safety behaviours.

• Food safety is prioritised  or cost.

• Employees feel confident to speak up about risks, mistakes, or concerns.

Regulation (EU) 2021/382, now requires all food business operators to establish, maintain and provide evidence of an appropriate food safety culture.
